David and Nancy Burton,
with their children, Joshua (15), Emily (13), and Daniel (7), are new
missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship, assigned to serve in the
Democratic Republic of Congo, as a maintenance specialist family. As
they look forward to overseas service, 2 Corinthians 3:5 gives them
great comfort. “Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.”

David was born and raised in Missouri, spending his early years in Kansas City and later rural Braymer. He was influenced by godly parents and grandparents and accepted Christ at a young age. David’s interest in missions came after spending several weeks on a visit to the island of Tortola in the Caribbean, where his grandmother was a missionary.
He first heard of Mission Aviation Fellowship while on a short-term mission trip to Ecuador, where he toured the MAF base in Shell. David graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, with a B.A. in Communications. He took several Bible courses through Moody Bible Institute. David earned his A&P license at Tulsa Technology Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One Scripture verse that means a lot to him is 1 John 3:18, “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." Nancy was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. As a young girl, she accepted Christ after hearing the testimony of a “retired” missionary during Vacation Bible School. She graduated from Truman State University with a B.A. in Family Sciences. She also took Bible courses from Moody Bible Institute and Carolina Bible College.
Nancy and David met while attending the Baptist Student Union at Truman State and married shortly after Nancy’s graduation. She has many favorite verses, depending on the lessons and circumstances she is experiencing, but she is always fond of Psalm 81:10, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.”
David has a heart for serving others and honoring God in all that he does. He is looking forward to using his skills as an airframe and power plant mechanic for MAF to help spread God’s love and the Gospel.
Nancy is not certain yet how God will use her overseas, but she is looking forward to the adventure of discovering God’s plan, not only for her but also for her family and seeing where God will lead her in their ministry with MAF.
To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing generous ministry support from His people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you to play a special role in the ministry of MAF around the world. You are invited to become a ministry partner with David and Nancy in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.
