Tim and Karen Chase
are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. They have served for
10 years in Indonesia, the last two of those in Sumatra, Indonesia,
deeply involved in the relief work of this tsunami-devastated region.
Living and working in this sensitive area, Micah 6:8 has become very real to them. "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Karen says, "...the only way we have been allowed to "preach" is with our actions. This verse has been a comfort - we have hopefully been a part of changing the perceptions of who Christ-followers are among a people group who have had no first-hand experience. We can only entrust the eternal outcome of our service of love to Him."

Tim shares, "It has been an amazing privilege to be able to fly for and work alongside such a broad community of relief and development workers from around the world, in support of the people of this region. In the face of such overwhelming need, we've played only a small part, but over and over again, people have expressed their appreciation for MAF's safe and reliable flight service. And, in this "new field," an area that was "closed" for so long, we have been involved in "tilling the soil" and hopefully planting Kingdom seeds - it has been the hardest we've ever worked, but it has also been the most fulfilling."
Tim was raised in a Christian family in Wheaton, IL, and committed his life to Jesus at age seven. Tim obtained his AA in Aviation Maintenance Management and his private pilot's license in Rockford IL. He then moved to Miami, Florida, for a successful career with IBM.
Karen, also raised in a Christian family, came to a saving faith in Christ at a young age. She earned a degree in medical technology in Denver and moved to Miami for a hospital laboratory position. Tim and Karen met in their Miami church. Through short-term mission trips, God led them toward mission aviation. Tim earned his commercial instrument rating, and they both completed Bible correspondence courses.
In order to fly MAF's Amphibian Caravan in Sumatra, Tim upgraded his licenses to include the Cessna 208 and a float plane rating. In addition to flying and maintaining the airplane, Tim provided support for the V-SAT internet system, did bookkeeping, and helped manage the new program.
Karen filled various support and logistic rolls, setup new MAF staff housing, and managed the cashbox and 50 some flight accounts, in addition to providing plenty of hospitality.
The Chases have recently accepted an assignment to start a new flight program in Nepal. They are excited about helping provide much needed transportation for national church and mission workers, and medical and aid organizations serving in this very poor country.
The Chases appreciate your prayers as they take on the challenges of starting a new program and endeavor to reach out to the people of Nepal.
To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.
You are invited to become a ministry partner with Tim and Karen in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.
