What is the mission of MAF?

Our passion is to see individuals, communities, and nations transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We promote this transformation by positioning Christ-centered staff in strategic locations worldwide utilizing aviation, communications, learning technologies, other appropriate technologies and related services. In accomplishing our mission, we collaborate with churches, subsidiaries, partners, and networks.

Beyond airplanes, what other technology services does MAF offer?

Where Aviation was once the entire ministry, today it is but one of three primary ministry thrusts that also include Communications and Learning Technologies.

How is MAF funded?

This year, it will require $38.3 million to operate ongoing programs, launch new initiatives, expand some services, and complete four key projects (excluding two capital campaigns).

Total funding from support raised by MAF missionary staff and from field revenue* amounts to $29,096,162 or 76 percent of total operating costs. We seek the remaining 24 percent - or $9,205,680 - from caring partners: individuals, churches, and foundations. View the MAF Reports for more details.

* The mission organizations we serve defray only a portion of the costs. Nationals with little or no resources increasingly need our services, and in such cases, MAF subsidizes costs even more.

Does MAF fly overseas from the U.S.A.?

No -- except when we ferry a new plane to one of our overseas bases. Whenever MAF acquires an additional aircraft, we modify it extensively for field operations. Then an MAF pilot flies it to its final destination. For this trip, the aircraft is equipped with an extra fuel tank containing approximately 230 gallons of fuel. The pilot is then able to fly the plane nonstop for up to 20 hours.
