Tripp and Heather Flythe and their children, Drew (20 months), and Ella (5 months), are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to serve in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Tripp grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, in a Christian home. After graduating from high school, he attended nearby North Carolina State University where he became involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. During his sophomore year, after “testing what the world had to offer,” God opened Tripp’s eyes and he committed his life to Christ...
After graduating from college with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, he served with Campus Crusade for Christ for two years in East Asia, where he met his future wife, Heather. It was there that he committed to being a part of reaching the unreached peoples of the world with the Gospel of Christ. After returning from East Asia, he obtained his A&P license, Commercial pilot’s license – single and multi-engine, and instrument rating.

Heather was raised in Buies Creek, North Carolina, a small town just outside Raleigh. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was very involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. It was through this ministry and the grace of God that her faith became real to her and she grew excited about serving the Lord. One of Heather’s first cross-cultural experiences came the summer after her junior year, when she went to East Asia for 8 weeks. The Lord transformed her heart through this experience and gave her a real passion for “reaching the unreached.” After Heather graduated college with a B.A. in Psychology, she returned to East Asia for another two years. During this time she met Tripp, and they were married a few years later.
Tripp eagerly looks forward to being a part of taking the Gospel to the “ends of the earth” where Christ is not named. Whether flying missionaries and national pastors, helping with relief work, or providing air ambulance services, he is excited to show Christ’s love in his role as pilot/mechanic. Tripp has been influenced especially by Romans 15:20-21, which says, “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: ‘Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.’”
Heather is enthusiastically anticipating her role as helpmate to Tripp and mom to little Drew. She loves to cook and entertain, and hopes to be busy welcoming others into their home, while sharing the love of Christ with them. She also looks forward to leading discipleship groups and Bible studies with national believers. One of Heather’s favorite verses is Acts 20:24, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
