Hotdog buns, etc.

This was dinner last night. Nothing too unusual about hotdogs, green beans, and chili. But I have been learning that although we are still in North America, we are definitely not in the U.S.! The hotdogs we had tasted somewhat the same but the texture was very different. Also, I have looked for chili, but haven't found anything but one interesting looking brand of vegetarian chili. So, we tried "Feves dans une sauce barbeque". Not too bad. :) My favorite, though, is the hotdog buns. They look pretty standard in the bag, but they are sliced top to bottom instead of horizontally. Although it makes a lot of sense, when I first saw them I thought someone must have made a mistake and run them through a bread slicer!
We are now settled in and ready to begin school. Which is good since registration was yesterday! Today was orientation from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. It was a lot of information about the school's history, students, rules, schedules, etc. All in English! We also toured the bibliotheque (library) and were given our course information (We had received our 12 inch stack of textbooks yesterday.).
This afternoon's introduction to our course was good. We of course experienced some syllabus shock, though that was lessened by the fact that our syllabus was in French and we couldn't read it. :) The instructors did a great job of talking us through much of the information so we have a better idea of what to expect. At one point, in reference to the amount of homework, he said in his strong French accent not to put off studying or, "You will...uh...cry."
So tomorrow we begin!
