Bio

Rocky and Lori Mason are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. Rocky is the Hangar Operations Foreman for the Aviation Services department at MAF headquarters. He is responsible for coordinating the activities of the hangar, including the maintenance of the Nampa training aircraft and the preparation of purchased aircraft for service on MAF bases worldwide. He is also on-call for traveling to MAF programs worldwide to assist in maintenance and special projects. Rocky says, "A key highlight of our ministry is seeing an airplane that has taken us months to prepare being used on an MAF base to reach the lost for Christ." During 1995 and 1996, the Masons served in Paramaribo, Suriname as a missionary pilot family. The Masons have three children, Seth, Sara, and Simon.

Rocky grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He became a Christian through the influence of his mother. He comments, "Within a few years of each other, my parents, two brothers and I accepted Christ." As a young boy, Rocky was interested in flying. His mother gave him the book, Jungle Pilot, which introduced him to missionary aviation. As a teenager he attended a national youth conference where he felt the tug of God to serve as a missionary. He was challenged by a godly pilot to use his interest in aviation to serve God overseas. Rocky attended Moody Bible Institute and Moody Aviation earning a BS in Mission Aviation Technology. He is a commercial pilot with instrument rating and holds an airframe and powerplant mechanic’s license.

Rocky quotes Romans 12:1-2, "I urge you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." He says, "These verses are a constant challenge to me to keep a proper perspective for my life in light of what God has done for me."

Lori grew up in Decatur, Illinois. Her mother led her to the Lord at the age of five. She attended Moody Bible Institute majoring in Christian Education; it was there that she felt the Lord leading her toward missions. Lori and Rocky were married in 1989. In addition to caring for Rocky and the children, Lori is involved with Rocky in AWANA. A favorite verse for Lori is Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.

You are invited to become a ministry partner with Rocky and Lori in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.

Where We Serve

USA, Technical Field Support

The main offices of Mission Aviation Fellowship serve as a hub for MAF services worldwide. A day in the life here includes specialized flight training, staff recruitment and counseling, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts, finance and accounting, administration of an internet gateway for worldwide e-mail, fund raising, printing and mailing of various materials, and many, many more activities.

Many representatives also serve from other locations in the United States. Church representatives act as liaisons between MAF and local churches to understand how to cooperate and be most effective together. And Recruiting representatives help to provide MAF with a constant flow of potential new staff - pilots, mechanics, IT professionals, and more - in order to keep the ministry of MAF alive and strong.
