Where in the US are the Maynards?
It's a good question... At the moment, we are at our apartment in Columbia, SC. But in the weeks prior to this, we've been in PA, OH, and FL. In PA, we spent some time with family, shared at Kathy's home church in PA, met with lots of different people, and showed lots of pictures of Kalimantan! Then we drove to OH, where we walked Tim's mom and dad through his mom's shoulder surgery. Praise God--the surgery has been relatively painless. We pray that it will bring back a much greater range of motion for her than she's had for the past couple of years. We had a few speaking engagements in Ohio before driving right through Columbia, SC, on our way to a missions conference at Tim's home church in Florida. And now we're in SC for Kathy's SC home church's missions conference.
We are now at 76% of our monthly support need! We've seen our support grow slowly but steadily, and we thank God for that! We are so grateful for each of the people on our ministry support team who give and who pray that we might serve the people of Kalimantan...and we look forward to getting back there in God's timing.
Right now it seems that God's timing is not January, 2009, as we had hoped. Before we leave, we need to have 100% of our monthly support needs committed. So, with the advice of our Ministry Partnership counselor at MAF, we've moved our target date to leave for the field to April, 2009. That will allow us more time to share with individuals, groups, and churches about our ministry in Indonesia. So, while we'd like to get back to Indonesia as quickly as possible, and while the Kalimantan program really needs Tim and his maintenance skills, we know God's timing is best. But do pray with us that God would bring in the remaining 24% of our monthly financial need!
