Jason and Joselyn Thiemann, along with their daughter Emma and son Sebastian, are a missionary pilot family with Mission Aviation Fellowship, assigned to Lesotho, Africa. Romans 12:1 models the life they strive to live daily: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Jason grew up in Brazil, Indiana, where his family attended Reelsville United Methodist Church. He considered himself a good Christian, but when he got to college, through the influence of the leaders and his friends at Purdue Christian Campus House, he finally offered control of his life to Jesus.
Upon graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in Professional Aviation Technology, Jason worked in Indianapolis as an aerial photographer, before accepting a position as First Officer with a regional airline in Salisbury, Maryland.
Joselyn was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ben Davis Christian Church was her church home. She was raised in a strong Christian family and always considered herself a Christian, but just after graduating from college, she committed to a life of complete service to Christ.
Joselyn graduated from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee, with a B.A. in Fine Arts, and an emphasis on photography. Shortly after graduating, she started her own photography business. After two years, she left her business to pursue a Music Ministry at her home church. While working for the church, Joselyn found her true passion for serving God through music and the arts, leading adults, and especially children, in the worship of God. Not long after she started working for the church, she met Jason, who proposed within ten weeks.
Jason was introduced to missions and MAF while still a student at Purdue, but never thought he would go into mission aviation because too many obstacles stood in his way. It wasn’t until he settled into the airlines that he realized God had slowly removed most of those obstacles. He and Joselyn left the airlines and applied to SMAT (School of Missionary Aviation Technology), in Lowell, Michigan, where Jason earned his aircraft mechanic’s license, in preparation for service as a missionary pilot.
Jason shares that he is excited to begin serving as a pilot and mechanic - bringing food, medicine, and the Good News to the people of Lesotho. He looks forward to manifesting the truth of Luke 4:18 in a more direct way through his service: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Joselyn knew she wanted to serve God wherever He needed her. She never imagined it would be in missions. As Jason and Joselyn began to grow in their marriage, it became increasingly apparent that God wanted to use their skills to cross cultural boundaries.
Joselyn is looking forward to continuing her role as a wife, and discovering how God can use her talents and passions for His glory and service. As she and Jason prepare to serve in Lesotho, she has found Psalm 146 inspirational: “Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them - the LORD, who remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.”
To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing generous ministry support from His caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way.
He is also calling people like you to have a special role in the ministry of MAF around the world. You are invited to partner with Jason and Joselyn in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer and/or financial support.
