Brian and Holly Underhill, along with their children, Hattie (10), Isaac (8), and Eli (3) are new missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship assigned to Indonesia, as a pilot/mechanic family. They are excited to be partnering with others worldwide, bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the nations, and working toward the fulfillment of Revelation 7:9-10, “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’”

Brian was raised in Lincolnville, a small town in mid-coast Maine. His family had a small farm and Brian grew up working with his dad who also ran a construction business. Brian was exposed to the Gospel in the church he attended with his family, and accepted Christ at a young age.

Holly also grew up in a tiny mid-coast town, the 6th of nine children born to Christian parents. Sunday school was a strong influence in Holly’s life and she accepted the Lord as her Savior at age 5. Holly attended World Evangelism Bible College and earned Infant and Toddler Child Development certification from Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Colorado. Holly was also influenced in her childhood by her aunt who is serving God in Mozambique. She remembers praying as a young child that if God wanted her to be a missionary, she would be happy to go! Holly met Brian while in high school and they were married after attending Bible College.

After their first child was born, Brian and Holly sought God’s direction in how they would raise their family. They lived in a tent for 6 months while building their dream house. But they found their dream unfulfilling and words like "self-serving" and "what next" surfaced in their conversations. Their desire to live simply led to the realization of a deeper desire to serve God in overseas missions. Brian went to Moody Aviation where he earned his commercial pilot’s license as well as his airframe and powerplant mechanic’s license, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Missionary Aviation Technology.

Brian looks forward to serving as a pilot/mechanic. He is excited to serve God in this capacity, ministering to people in a practical way, overcoming barriers to the Gospel in the hardest to reach areas of the world. His prayer is that together with his family they will continue to follow the charge from the writer of Hebrews as they serve God in their daily lives. “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

Holly looks forward to nurturing and maintaining the home, raising third-culture children, as well as using her gifts of hospitality in their home as a way to minister to others. She is excited to use her experience working with children and moms, in new ministry overseas. She has a passion for friendship evangelism – sharing the Gospel with those God brings across her path and into her home, one at a time.
