Joe and Karen Adams

Joe and Karen Adams are privileged to serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in the Kingdom of Lesotho, in southern Africa. Joe will use his vocation as a pilot/mechanic to tangibly share Christ’s love with isolated people by providing safe and efficient transportation for local people, missionaries and pastors, by delivering community development supplies and by providing life-saving medical evacuation flights. Karen will continue to focus on being a mom to their two children, Grace and Timothy. She also plans to use her passion for building relationships to bring the message of the hope of Jesus to those around her.

Joe was born in Pullman, Washington, and grew up working on his family farm and in the family veterinary biotechnology business. Through church and the guidance of his Christian parents, he accepted Jesus as his Savior as a small child. In his early teen years, he realized the need to devote his life to God’s service, whatever that entailed. From his education at Moody Bible Institute, he received an appreciation and respect for missions. While working in his family’s business, he attained a pilot’s certificate to enhance business opportunities. During his flight training, Joe learned about mission aviation and how it fulfills both physical and spiritual needs of isolated people. In 2013, Joe realized that the Lord was calling him in this direction, so he left his position in the business and over the next three years obtained his A&P mechanic certificates through Portland Community College while also working as a flight instructor at Hillsboro Aero Academy in Oregon. Joe says, “I am delighted to fulfill my desire to serve God in His kingdom while helping others and engaging my passion for flying.”

Karen was born in Spokane, Washington, and grew up in Pullman. She received Christ as a child and believes in the power of God to transform lives through His love, grace and forgiveness. Karen honed her passion for customer service through her experiences working in her parents’ food service business, as a customer service manager, and more recently as a server at a Portland restaurant. Karen has been gifted with a heart for helping others and desires for others to see their value in God’s eyes. She is excited to learn as much as she can about the local culture and hopes to host guests by exercising her culinary art.

Joe and Karen grew up in the same church in Pullman and married in 2007. In 2013, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Grace. In 2017, their son Timothy joined the family.
