Will you help MAF maintain its fleet?

It’s no surprise airplanes are complex machines. And like any piece of machinery, they require regular maintenance, upgrades, and periodic assessments in order to continue running well—especially considering MAF aircraft fly into some of the most remote places on the planet!

Airplane maintenance is vital to keep MAF airplanes flying so isolated people and communities can experience the love of Christ by having access to medical care, education, disaster relief, Bibles, the message of the gospel, and more.

This year MAF needs to raise $1.38 million to perform all the necessary maintenance on our fleet. This includes regular maintenance as well as an important upgrade that will not only help keep our pilots safe but also streamline flight operations.

Currently, 40% of the MAF US fleet is equipped with the v2track system—but it is important the rest are equipped as well.

The v2track system removes the dependency on high frequency (HF) radio for tracking airplanes. HF radio can be unreliable, and the static makes it hard to hear calls. Also, someone must constantly be listening on the other end. The v2track system is a hybrid system that uses both satellite and cellular networks to automatically transmit a pilot’s location—giving great precision to know exactly where our airplanes are. This could be a matter of life and death in the unlikely case an MAF pilot needs to be rescued.

The v2track system is already making a difference for MAF staff. Jon Cadd, an MAF missionary pilot for 36 years in Africa, wrote:

“We were able to install v2track trackers in each of our Democratic Republic of Congo aircraft. This has greatly simplified our flight following procedures and genuinely upped our safety and ability to find a lost or downed aircraft over the vast Ituri rain forest. I have personally been involved in the search for a downed pilot (not MAF’s) and it is virtually impossible to find anything from the air in such dense tree cover. We are very grateful to have these units in our airplanes and hope every MAF aircraft worldwide will soon be equipped with these wonderful tools. It turns a Search and Rescue into just a rescue.”

It will take $105,000 to complete the conversion of all our airplanes to v2track systems—and we can’t do it without you!

Will you help equip MAF airplanes to share Christ’s love with isolated people? Your gift to MAF will change the ending for people living in the most remote places on earth.
