Douglas and Karin Allrich

Doug and Karin Allrich have been missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship since 1989, having served in Indonesia for thirty years as a pilot/mechanic family in West Kalimantan and Papua. In early 2019 MAF asked Doug to take a position as a software developer for the Indonesia region and relocate to the US. Doug’s contribution to MAF’s ministry now centers around creating and supporting custom-built, aviation-focused web applications used by our MAF pilots, mechanics, and managers in Indonesia.

While based in Papua as an MAF pilot, Doug flew daily to a variety of jungle and mountain airstrips in the central highlands, connecting each village’s community with MAF’s base in Wamena. Using Cessna Caravan and Quest Kodiak aircraft, Doug delivered much-needed food, medicine, fuel, building supplies, and school materials while providing medevac and other passenger services on a routine basis.  Doug also served in an Instructor Pilot role, training and equipping other MAF pilots for strategic service.

Karin has served in a variety of capacities over the years: as a homemaker, as MAF’s base guesthouse coordinator, and as a 24/7 on-call nurse for MAF and other missionary staff wherever they’ve lived. Zephaniah 3:17 is a special verse to Karin, “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” She shares, “As I delight in the things around me, such as the beauty of the jungle and the joys of being a parent, it’s very special to me to think about the Lord delighting in me.”

Doug and Karin are both from Minnesota. At age 12, Doug became a Christian through the influence of the film A Thief in the Night. Doug attended Moody Bible Institute where he earned a B.S. in Missionary Aviation Technology from Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Doug graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a MBA in Aviation. He holds a multi-engine Airline Transport Pilot certificate with commercial pilot privileges for Single-engine Sea, and is a certified flight instructor and an airframe and powerplant mechanic.

Karin was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She attended Wheaton College, Crown College, and earned an Associate of Science degree as a Registered Nurse at East Tennessee State University. Karin and Doug were married on August 12, 1983.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Doug and Karin’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
