As Tim and Roxanne reflect on their career with MAF, they increasingly realize that it is truly Christ who is building His Kingdom through their ministry. Tim shares, "I am learning more and more that I cannot accomplish anything for God by my own efforts, but only through the power of God's Holy Spirit working through me."
After Portuguese language study, the Aults moved to Boa Vista, Brazil, to serve as a pilot/mechanic family. They were also able to fly in Mozambique, Africa, for a time to help cover another Portuguese-speaking program. The first half their most recent missionary term they returned to Santarém, Brazil, then moved to Manaus for the second half of their term.
In Santarém and Manaus, Tim continued a seaplane ministry to aid local churches and various missions in church-planting, giving wings to the Great Commission. In order to expand the Gospel outreach to more than 30,000 isolated communities along the Amazon River, Tim ferried a Cessna 206 amphibian from Coshocton, Ohio, to Manaus, Brazil. They share, "The people we fly for are our heroes, and we are so glad to be able to help them in every way we can."
Tim grew up in San Diego, California, where he accepted Christ as his Savior as a young child. At the Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, now Trinity Lutheran College (TLC), his heart was touched by the Lord, sparking the desire for full-time Christian service in mission aviation. Tim attended Christian Heritage College in southern California, where he studied Mission Aviation Technology. He holds commercial and instructor pilot licenses with instrument, landplane, and seaplane ratings, and airframe and powerplant mechanic licenses.
In addition to 18 years of home-schooling, Roxanne’s days have been filled with flight-following, hospitality, discipling women, helping with children’s ministry, and translating for work teams and short-term missionaries. Roxanne grew up in a Christian home in Seattle, Washington, and later met Tim at the Lutheran Bible Institute. Following their marriage, Roxanne trained as a licensed practical nurse.
Roxanne’s favorite verses come from Ephesians. "But God…rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions…For it is by grace you have been saved by faith…for we are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works, which God prepared…for us." (Eph. 2:4-5, 8-10) Roxanne shares, "Our time on earth is for knowing this and sharing it with others."
The Aults have 4 adult children – Amber, married to Aaron, living in Kenmore, WA; Corrie, married to Carlos, living in Manaus, Brazil, where she has a company to do simultaneous translation; Ben, pursuing employment in law enforcement in the Seattle area where he hopes to use his experience as a commercial diver; and Caleb, living in Simi Valley, CA.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Tim and Roxanne’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
