Jeremy and Julie Bunker are short-term missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. They have been assigned to Papua, Indonesia where Jeremy will serve children of missionary families as a teacher. Jeremy is excited about using the gifts and abilities the Lord has given him to serve these families, allowing each to focus more deeply on the ministries placed in front of them. Julie will be helping in accounting and administrative areas at the same school where Jeremy will be teaching. She looks forward to using her skills and abilities for the benefit of God’s kingdom.
Jeremy was raised in Walla Walla, Washington. Influenced throughout his childhood by family, friends, and even strangers, seeds were planted over a period of several years to prepare Jeremy for salvation. In the fall of 2001, at the age of 20, Jeremy received Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior when a missionary on furlough asked him if he had a personal relationship with Jesus. Primed for the harvest, and holding hands with a woman he had just met, he prayed to the One who has the power to alter a human life. Forever changed, Jeremy knew that there was a plan for him that went beyond being inspired. Over time, he realized that God was calling him to serve in the same way the woman who led him to the Lord served – internationally.
While in college in 2003, Jeremy took a job with Campfire USA where he developed a love for working with and teaching children. This influenced his decision to complete a degree in Education from Washington State University. As a teacher, Jeremy quickly realized that his passion is developing genuine relationships with students. This gives his students a desire to learn and grow in subject matter, but also provides a far reaching impact of character building through example and encouragement.
Julie was born and raised in a Christian home in Boise, Idaho. In high school, she was influenced by a pastor’s family to make her relationship with God more personal. She decided then that she wanted to serve the Lord cross-culturally. However, after attending Toccoa Falls College in Georgia for a semester, she quit college and thus put the idea of missions on hold. After some time away from school, she went back to study accounting in 2006. She started at Walla Walla Community College, where she and Jeremy were introduced by a campus missionary. They were married in the summer of 2008. Julie continued her studies at Boise State University and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accountancy. She has since worked in the accounting field.
