Darryl and Debbie Cedergren

Darryl and Debbie Cedergren joined MAF in January 1993 and served as a pilot/mechanic family in Puerto Ayacucho, Venezuela, for eight years. Darryl shares, “The Lord used His written Word to speak into my life. At the age of 19, I decided I wanted to bring the gospel to isolated people who did not have access to His Word. Working alongside Bible translators and church planters overseas was an awesome privilege.” In 2003 they returned to the US and began working at MAF’s headquarters. “I enjoy using my talents to further His Kingdom in the hearts of people, no matter what task that might be.”

In Ministry Partnership, Darryl worked as a coach, training and assisting new MAF staff as they built their ministry team of prayer and financial partners. In 2017, Darryl was invited to serve in the Finance department. He shares, “I am in contact with overseas staff each week, helping them to secure funds so they can serve well, acting as a liaison between our insurance provider and our numerous programs, and overseeing the cash flow at MAF’s headquarters. I find that my talents align well with the task at hand, although I still have so much to learn.”

Brad, Becca, Ryan, and Rachel were all born during Darryl and Debbie’s time of service in Venezuela, and are now all grown and doing well.

Darryl was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and came to know Jesus as his Savior in his senior year of high school. He spent six years in the Navy (submarine service), and in 1992 graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Mission Aviation.

Debbie, also a native of Illinois (southern suburbs of Chicago), accepted Jesus as her Savior in elementary school. She met Darryl while attending Moody. They were married two years later. Debbie holds a degree in Christian Education and is a certified Educational Therapist with the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD). She works as an educational coach for children with learning development needs.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Cedergrens’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
