Rick and Teresa Dickson

Rick and Teresa Dickson began ministry as missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in 1996, assigned first to Lesotho, Southern Africa. Rick flew for six years as a pilot/mechanic on MAF’s Lesotho Flying Doctor team, and then additionally was the base’s program manager. In 2004, they were relocated to Nairobi, Kenya where Rick served as southern Africa area manager, overseeing MAF’s flight operations in the countries of Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

Two years later, in January of 2006, Rick prayerfully accepted a new assignment to serve the Lord as MAF's Latin America regional director. With this new endeavor, the family relocated to San José, Costa Rica, coordinating the Gospel work there and in six other Latin American countries: Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, Haiti and Suriname. After more than five years there, the Dicksons’ two children finished high school in Costa Rica.

Rick’s experience in management enabled him to widen his scope of responsibilities to a worldwide emphasis when MAF asked the Dicksons to relocate to the MAF-U.S. headquarters. In 2011, Rick first served as senior director of field operations and the as director of finance in 2014. He accepted his most recent appointment in the fall of 2015 as vice president of finance/CFO.

Teresa is also fulfilling their mission call at MAF headquarters as a coach in the ministry partnership department, training and guiding new missionary staff members in building their team of prayer and financial supporters. “The most exciting part,” says Teresa, “is working closely with young missionary couples before they move overseas to begin field service,” and she sees them now thriving in such places as Central Asia, Congo, Mozambique, and Lesotho.

The Dicksons’ oldest, Sarah Catherine, married Caleb Lance in May 2012 and is a physician assistant in Arkansas. Their son, John, a Samford graduate, is currently a marketing representative in Birmingham, Alabama. Both are fluent in Spanish and embrace the rich diversity of their childhood on the foreign mission field.
