Kent and Amy Embleton, excited to serve the people of Mozambique through Mission Aviation Fellowship as a pilot/mechanic family, desire to share with others the Good News of the Gospel and the abundant life found in Jesus Christ.
Growing up in "slower lower" Delaware, Kent learned through his parents of the radical hope provided by God in Christ. Kent remembers “getting real” about his relationship with Christ during his sophomore year of high school. Through the experience of asking questions about himself and his family’s heritage of Christianity, he was led by God to pursue a life of service as a missionary pilot and mechanic. Kent’s grandfather, a pilot and a supporter of a missionary pilot, was a significant influence in this decision.
Hailing from Washington state, Amy was blessed to be raised in a committed Christian family and came to know Jesus at a young age. Growing up with siblings with special needs, she learned much from them about choosing joy in all circumstances. Amy’s interest in missions was a natural result of her family’s commitment to support and pray for many missionary families, including her grandparents, who rode MAF planes into remote village stations in Ethiopia. During her first year of college, Amy’s parents were led by the Lord to serve as “finisher” missionaries in Ethiopia; Amy’s college summers were spent with them working with Ethiopian children.
Kent and Amy met at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Eager for their lives to be a witness for the Lord as a picture of Christ’s beautiful relationship with the Church, they married in July 2011. Kent earned his Mechanic’s Certificate as well as Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor Certificate in single and multi-engine aircraft, in addition to a bachelor’s degree. Through two years of instructing for LeTourneau, Kent honed his pilot skills. Amy graduated with a degree in Mathematics and a teacher’s certificate; the following school year, she taught all levels of high school math in a Christian school.
Kent and Amy are encouraged by the promises of Scripture, and 1 Corinthians 15:58 is another of their favorites. “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Kent and Amy desire to be laborers who are focused on Christ and devoted to the work to which He has called them.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Kent and Amy’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
