Bryan and Mari are excited to serve the people of Lesotho, and be witnesses for God, to bring Him glory. After one term in Lesotho as a pilot/mechanic, Bryan is serving his second term with his wife Mari, and their son, Matthias. Bryan and Mari pray that Acts 1:8 is lived out in their lives before the people they are called to serve, just as they value the examples of Christ they see in the godly men and women they are blessed to call friends.
During his first term, Bryan was a link to medical care for a young girl with cancer, witnessed a church being built in a remote village, helped supply two missionaries serving in an isolated village, and amazingly assisted in the delivery of a baby in the airplane! He shares, “All in all I’m just so blessed to have been used by God and able to demonstrate His love to the Basotho people in such practical ways!”
Born in Anchorage, AK, Bryan moved with his family to Federal Way, WA, where he was raised. His interest in aviation began in his second year of high school when he took an aviation fundamentals class. Shortly after graduating, Bryan worked for FedEx, while at the same time, enrolled in a professional pilot program at Green River Community College. He obtained his aircraft mechanic’s license from Everett Community College in 2006, and began working as an aircraft mechanic in 2007, and then a charter pilot in Port Angeles, while taking a number of Bible courses through Global University.
After high school, Bryan met James, who invited him to his church, where, in September of 1999, Bryan committed his life to Jesus! Introduced to missions through TeenMania, he traveled with a street ministry group to Venezuela, and with the same group to Peru. Motivated by Romans 10:14-15, serving with MAF has been Bryan’s call since 2000.
Mari was born in Renton, WA, and raised in Arizona. She joined the Navy just after high school and served as a Chinese linguist for almost 10 years. Mari began a relationship with Jesus in 2007, and felt a call to missions early in her journey with God. In 2010 she graduated from Lake Washington Technical College with an Associates of Applied Science degree for Physical Therapist Assistant.
Mari enjoys being a stay-at-home mom and also enjoys using her skills as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a local orphanage helping orphans with special needs. Her special verse is James 1:27 (NIV) "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Brian and Mari’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
