Daniel, Joy, Zoe, Ariella, and Zechariah serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship as a pilot/mechanic family. Daniel flies national Christian workers, missionaries, medical evacuations, and relief aid in remote areas of Papua, Indonesia. While balancing daily life in Indonesia, caring for their children, and cooking from scratch, Joy hopes to be an encouragement to each person she meets. The Geaslens arrived in Indonesia in 2011, and currently are living in the city of Wamena, located in the beautiful Baliem Valley at 5,000 feet above sea level, in the central highlands of Papua.
Daniel is originally from northeastern Ohio, and first felt a clear calling to missionary aviation when he was 13. Throughout his growing up years, Daniel maintained a passion for missions and sharing God’s love around the world. After graduating in 2005 from Moody Aviation, Daniel worked as a pilot abroad for a short while in preparation for joining MAF.
Joy grew up in western Massachusetts and learned from her family and church that God loved her and wanted her to serve Him. She chose to follow Him at a young age. Joy graduated from Wheaton College in 2003, with a BA in Psychology and a certificate of youth ministry. She served on campus ministry staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for five years, planting a Christian fellowship at a college in New Hampshire. Joy has long been interested in international ministry, participating in several short-term mission trips and reaching out to international students. Daniel and Joy met while Daniel was visiting relatives in New Hampshire.
Daniel and Joy were married August 1, 2009. God blessed them with Zoe in 2011, Ariella in 2013, and Zechariah in 2016.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Geaslens' ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with Daniel and Joy through prayer and/or financial support.
