John and Cora Lou Miller

John and Cora Lou Miller served six terms with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. John shares, “Serving as a pilot, I flew people, national and foreign missionaries and their families; servants of God working with Bible translation, evangelism and church planting. Our greatest reward was seeing the results of their labors in transformed lives.” Cora Lou’s ministries were varied and vital, as a music teacher, cosmetologist and English as a Second Language teacher. They are currently serving at MAF Headquarters in Nampa, Idaho, working with volunteers. One of their favorite verses is 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." "We're challenged by this verse," John shares, “to be consistent and persevere in our service to the Lord. In spite of the pressures and the discouragements of life, how can we do less than give Him our best?"

John’s relationship with Christ began when he was nine years old. Then, when he was twelve, John determined to serve the Lord as a missionary pilot when he heard the story of MAF pilot Nate Saint, who was killed by the Indians he was trying to reach in Ecuador.

John graduated from Moody Aviation with a B.S. in Mission Aviation Technology and earned his multi-engine, helicopter, seaplane pilot ratings and his commercial pilot with airline transport rating. He is also an aircraft mechanic and radio technician with advanced training in welding technology and machine tool operations.

Cora Lou’s parents were missionaries. She was born in Nicaragua, but grew up in Guatemala. As a little girl, Cora Lou accepted Christ as her Savior and when she was baptized, she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. An alumna of Moody Bible Institute and Indiana University, Cora Lou has a diploma in Sacred Music. She met John while they were students at Moody and married in 1964.

Due to unresolved family medical concerns, the Millers are not able to return to Indonesia. At MAF headquarters, John is the hangar volunteer coordinator, directing the activities of various volunteer aircraft mechanics. What a joy to see the excitement of lay people thrilled to be involved in Kingdom work!

After having successfully taught English to two Indonesian trainees living in their home, Cora Lou has gone on to become a certified ESL teacher. She hopes to be a resource person for MAF’s English training needs of foreign personnel. She also enjoys painting, teaching piano, church accompaniment and helping elderly shut-ins in the community.

The Miller’s sons have families of their own. Joe and Ginger live in the Detroit area with their two children, Jonathan and Shanna. Ben and daughter Victoria live in the Phoenix area.

To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.

You are invited to become a ministry partner with John and Cora Lou in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer or financial support.
