Steve and Carol Lehman are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. The Lehmans spent ten years serving in the Latin America region and since 1997 have served at MAF’s headquarters. Steve is the Assistant Manager of Safety and is involved in conducting safety audits of MAF programs to encourage high standards of flight and maintenance safety. He has taken courses in Accident Investigation, Human Factors and Safety Management from Embry-Riddle University.
In 1998, Carol began working as an Administrative Assistant in the Mobilization Department. She shares, “I love being part of a department that seeks people who feel called to serve in missions. It is exciting to see the Lord calling people to MAF and it is a blessing to be a part of the process to help them go to serve. Mobilization is a perfect place to serve with the gifts and abilities that the Lord has given to me.”
During his last two years in Honduras, Steve served as MAF’s Chief Pilot for the region. He had the opportunity to witness what God is doing throughout Central America. The Lord also blessed Steve’s ministry as he has completed more than 3,000 consecutive flying hours without accident or incident serving missionaries, the Moravian church, and people with medical needs in the Mosquitia.
Steve relates that Romans 8:28 is a favorite verse of his, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” “Joy doesn’t depend on circumstances,” Steve continues. “All that we experience first goes through God’s loving hands.”
Carol provided a loving, Christian home for her family and hospitality to many guests. Outside the home she was the church organist, was active in the woman’s group, and had ministries in a children’s malnutrition ward and a women’s cancer ward at the San Felipe Hospital. She saw many women accept Christ and give Him the glory for what He was doing in Tegucigalpa.
Carol’s special verse is Psalm 36:7, “How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.” She shares, “How wonderful it is to rely on the Lord in the circumstances of life as His unfailing love upholds me!”
The Lehmans have two grown sons. Daniel and his wife, Alexia, live in California. Their youngest son, David, and his wife Krista live in Idaho.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in the Lehmans’ ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
