Alex and Tricia Ludvicek are excited to serve as missionaries in Indonesia with Mission Aviation Fellowship. As a pilot/mechanic, Alex will use aviation as a tool to show Christ’s love to isolated people. Tricia will continue to take care of the family while maintaining a welcoming home in their new setting and being involved in local ministry. Together, Alex and Tricia look forward to building relationships with the local community. I Thessalonians 2:8 encourages them as they follow God’s call. “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you have become so dear to us.”
Born in the small town of North Liberty, Iowa, Alex was raised in a Christ-loving home, and accepted the Lord as his Savior at a young age. However, there was a time when he decided to live his life apart from Jesus. In high school, God surrounded Alex with friends who demonstrated living life for Christ. Their example led Alex to rededicate his life to Christ and follow God’s call to missionary aviation. Since then God has been working in Alex’s life to prepare him for overseas mission service. Participating in several short-term overseas mission trips opened Alex’s eyes to God’s work around the world in a variety of cultures. Alex attended Moody Bible Institute in Spokane, Washington, and graduated in 2014 with a degree in Missionary Aviation Technology along with his aircraft mechanic certifications and a commercial/instrument pilot license.
Tricia was blessed to grow up with God-fearing parents and a strong Christian community in Iowa City, and she accepted Christ as her Savior in elementary school. As she grew older and became more exposed to the brokenness of this world, her faith and desire to serve Him grew. Tricia had the opportunity to spend time in both Bolivia and Namibia on mission trips. God used these experiences to give her a more grounded view of missions and to open her eyes to the work He is doing to build His Church around the world. Tricia finds peace in the promises in Psalm 139 which illustrate that God’s people can lean on Him who will not leave us to walk through this life alone. In June 2011, Tricia graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa.
Friends since high school, Alex and Tricia were married in August 2011. Upon Alex’s graduation from Moody, the Ludviceks moved back to Iowa City where he turned wrenches in the airport shop and flight instructed to gain more experience. Tricia also delved into the aviation field by working at the airport’s front desk. They joyfully welcomed their son, Jackson, in June 2016.
Alex and Tricia are excited that God has called them to this journey and eagerly anticipate serving in Indonesia.
