Mike and Angie Johnson

Mike and Angie Johnson are excited for their future of serving as missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship, and seek to use the gifts God has given them to serve Him. As a licensed mechanic, Mike will maintain aircraft used to transport missionaries, national pastors, medical personnel, and supplies in support of various ministries. Along with the important role of raising Colton and Macie, Angie looks forward to interacting with the community they live in, building relationships, as well as serving where she is able.

Born in Vancouver, WA, Mike was raised in the Philippines where his family served as missionaries. In his sophomore year of high school, he was challenged to make his faith his own. While attending Ecola Bible School, he was gripped by the call to combine his love for aviation with serving God as a missionary pilot. A few years later he attended Multnomah Bible School, and later went on to Portland Community College to earn his Aircraft Mechanic’s Certificate. God orchestrated Mike’s flight training through a fellow aircraft mechanic at work who was also a flight instructor. Through the generous support of individuals at Servant Wings, a training organization for missionary pilots/mechanics, Mike was able to obtain his Instrument Rating and Commercial Pilot’s Certificate.

Angie was also born in Vancouver, WA, and raised in the neighboring town of Camas, where she attended church with her family in her younger years. During her junior year of high school, Angie became active in the youth group at church and went on a short-term mission trip to build houses in Mexico. It was an eye-opening experience for her, showing her there was a greater cause in life and giving her the desire to serve in more short-term mission projects. After high school Angie had a rough patch in her relationship with God however, and didn’t really make her faith her own until she was 19. Not wanting to make the same mistake of leaning on her friends and youth leaders too much for her faith, she began studying the Word on her own, rededicated her life to God, and began to serve with the youth at her church.

Angie has always had a love for aviation and worked at a local airline where she met Mike, and was able to arrange “opportunities” for them to bump into each other quite often. When they started dating, Mike shared with Angie his dream of serving God in missions overseas. Mike asked Angie to join him in this calling and they married in 2004. Together, they are excited about following God’s leading as they take this leap of faith and trust His loving direction.

God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Mike and Angie’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
