Peter and Katie Santana

Peter and Katie Santana are excited to spend their lives for the sake of the Gospel as they serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Papua, Indonesia. As a pilot/finance specialist, Peter will use aviation and business experience to help bring Christ's love to people in the remotest parts of the world. He will transport missionaries, pastors, village residents, and humanitarian aid workers as well as provide medical evacuation flights. Katie will continue to focus on raising their three boys: Carter, Micah, and Luke. While overseas, she hopes to use her teaching background in some capacity as well as minister to others in the community.

Peter grew up in Waynesboro, Virginia and was encouraged in his relationship with Christ by his parents and other influential pastors and teachers in his life. At the age of 18 he received his pilot's license with his father as his flight instructor. He went on to obtain his commercial and instrument ratings through local flight schools. Peter was introduced to mission aviation through the story of Nate Saint (MAF pilot and martyr), and he and Katie got to experience the impact of mission aviation firsthand while on a vision trip with MAF to Mexico in 2011.

Peter graduated from James Madison University with a degree in finance and has spent most of his adult life in the corporate world as a finance professional. About 10 years into a successful career, God redirected him to pursue mission aviation.

Katie grew up in Staunton, Virginia and was greatly impacted by seeing her parents live out their faith. This led her to follow Christ from a young age. While growing up she participated in several domestic mission trips and also saw her family support mission organizations. However, it was really over the last several years that God changed her view of what it means to live on mission for Him and opened her heart to serving on the overseas mission field.

Friends since high school, Peter and Katie were married in 2007 and have lived in Waynesboro, Virginia since then. In 2008, Katie graduated from James Madison University with a Master of Arts in teaching and her licensure for teaching middle school math and science. She taught middle school math for a few years before their second son was born, when she became a fulltime, stay-at-home mom.

Peter and Katie look forward to seeing what God will do as He leads them in this new chapter of their lives.
