Grateful to serve in Haiti, the Rogers feel Ephesians 2:8-10 has motivated them in spreading the Gospel of God’s grace, freely given through His Son, while walking in the good works that God has prepared in advance for them to do.
As a pilot/mechanic, Tim is able to fly to the remotest parts of Haiti, meeting very real physical needs while transporting people and delivering supplies. Catherine is a Physician Assistant, currently seeing whomever God brings by their door, as well as fielding medical questions from those that call her on a daily basis. Her hope is to partner with physicians and remote medical clinics throughout the country to provide HIV diagnoses and treatment.
Tim was born and raised in Churchville, NY, in a Bible-believing family, with his four sisters. It was during "Junior Church" at Grace Church of the Nazarene in North Chili, NY, that he was led to Christ by his Aunt Joyce. This church also had a very profound influence on his call to missions because of the many missionaries who spoke of the need for "workers to go out into the fields which were ripe for harvest." At a youth camp meeting Tim was encouraged to pursue full-time service in missions and his heart was stirred. As a teenager, Tim was given some books about mission aviation, and began to think about this as a way to serve God. While serving with a special response organization, he confirmed his call to serve those who were in need. Tim is trained in paramedics, search and recovery, firefighting, police SCUBA, and disaster relief. He obtained his flight training from several flight schools in the U.S., and attended Florida State College of Jacksonville where he obtained his aviation maintenance certifications. He has worked both in the emergency medical field as an E.R. technician, as well as in the aviation field as a freight pilot and aviation maintenance technician.
Catherine was born in Germany to a Navy family, and grew up in sunny Pensacola, FL. Her older brother, Stan, led her to Christ and also had the privilege of baptizing her. Catherine has always felt called to indigent care and has had the opportunity to serve on a medical mission in Guyana, South America, where she saw the need for greatly improved medical access. Catherine attended Faulkner University in Alabama, where she obtained a bachelor's in Biology in 1998. Later she attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile, where she earned a bachelor's of Clinical Laboratory Science in 2000. The next few years she worked as a Medical Technologist at an Indian hospital in Lawton, OK. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. Before moving to Haiti, Catherine worked as a Physician Assistant in the Infectious Disease clinic at the Florida Health Department.
Tim and Catherine met in Pensacola, FL, at Catherine’s going away party. She was moving to Oklahoma the next day! Very impressed with Catherine, Tim says that he knew immediately, "She was the one." Through long phone calls, e-mails, and short visits, they got to know each other and their mutual love for the Lord. They wed in February 2005. Presently, the Rogers live in Port au Prince, Haiti, and continue to invest in the lives of Haitians through MAF and the local Haitian church.
God calls the men and women of MAF to serve Him in unique ways. He may also be calling you to a special role in Tim and Catherine’s ministry. Please prayerfully consider becoming a Ministry Partner with them through prayer and/or financial support.
