Program Details

Mozambique is a large sub-Saharan African country filled with beauty and natural resources. This former Portuguese colony is still reeling from the effects of a communist regime and brutal civil wars. The people of Mozambique are the ones who have to pay the price. One in seven children dies before the age of five. One in nine Mozambicans are HIV positive. The UN ranks this country 185th out of 187 for social and economic development.

New Flying Doctor Project

A video by Steve Simpson, the program manager at MAF’s base in Mozambique, Africa. Steve describes an exciting new initiative, a flying doctor project that will create access to healthcare in the Niassa Reserve, in the northern part of the country.

Because it’s a reserve, there is very little infrastructure … and few roads. In this remote area, a serious illness or injury can be fatal as it can take days to reach a village that has a very basic clinic. Many simply go without medical care and hope for the best. MAF wants to change that, and you can help!
